Watertower Chop House, Sun Prairie, WI
What a great New Year's Eve party at the Chop House! We weren't very far into the first set before a few more adventurous folks were up dancing, and several more followed the lead as the evening went on. We enjoyed seeing so many of our old friends out to welcome the New Year, and we were glad to meet many new friends, as well. Friend John, the famous DJ, joined us for an energetic version of "Mustang Sally" just before counting us down to 2015! We thank Gary, Scott, Tim, and all the staff for supporting live music and creating such a welcoming space to play. Blessings to all during the coming year!

Watertower Chop House, Sun Prairie, WI
Thanksgiving Eve at the Chop House had us wondering at first--a few folks relaxing in the lounge, a few folks finishing up their dinners... But mid-way into our first set, the place was hopping, and we ended up playing an extra hour before the dancing stopped and the room started to settle down. What fun! We were glad to meet lots of new friends, and we thank many of our "old" friends and family for stopping by to share the evening with us. (Emily brought the whole family!) Hoping to be back soon...

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Our first snowfall of the season--light, fluffy, and beautiful--helped us all feel cozy in the lounge. The room was a bit crowded all night, but we had a lot of fun sharing the evening with so many friends and family. We enjoyed watching folks move to a another Fleetwood Mac classic, "Don't Stop (Thinking about Tomorrow)," a new one for us--Brad (who had never rehearsed it with us) nailed it, in usual fashion, making it almost impossible not to move! Now that patio weather is indisputably behind us, we're looking forward to many more cozy evenings in the lounge.

October 18, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was a cozy night in the lounge as fall was making a statement outside. Highlights included Brad back with us on drums, dancers dancing (wow--amazing dancing!), and Amy dedicating "Baby I Love You" to Kris and Alicia, out celebrating a Happy Anniversary. Good times!

October 8, 2014
Private party--A great party--the first annual gathering of Madison-area alumni of University of Minnesota Duluth, home of the Bulldogs! Most of our audience was visible lingering just outside the open doorway--hmmm, closer to the bar (on that side of the door) than the food (on our side of the door). But we all had fun!

October 1, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Another fun evening in the lounge, and we're getting used to playing indoors again (I guess). A few celebrations were happening around the room, including a birthday and an anniversary--a little extra fun, especially when dancers hit the floor to help celebrate! We were happy to have many of our friends out, including friend Brandon, out to hear us for the first time. Brandon is an audio engineering student at MMI who's looking for a band to record and produce for a class project--if you know of any possibilities, please pass them along (he can often be found hanging out near Phil)...

September 26, 2014
Watertower Chop House, Sun Prairie, WI
Our first date at the Chop House, and we were delighted to see so many of our friends come out to share the evening. What a great space for live music! We were excited to bring some new songs (after a very busy summer playing out around town, we finally had time for a rehearsal last week), including "Hit the Road, Jack," "Dock of the Bay," and "One after 909," one of the first songs written by the Beatles. We're hoping to be back soon...

September 21, 2014
CWC, Madison, WI
Family Picnic--Another very special time at the Central Wisconsin Center. But another picnic moved indoors because of us! Actually, it was the threat of rain, but now four out of five CWC picnics moved indoors because of weather--makes us stop and wonder. But inside or out, we always have special fun playing for the residents and their families. This year we enjoyed seeing lots of smiles and having lots of dancers on wheels--even though a few times the room was so packed with friends and family that it got a little hard for folks to move around! Looking forward to the next picnic--but pray for sun! Thanks to Jan and all the staff and to Marsha and the Family & Friends group for creating such a special event and inviting us to be a part of it.

September 20, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
This night turned into a very special event! We had several birthday celebrations going on around the establishment (including special friend Deb celebrating an extra-special one). We had special dancers. We had daughter Anna joining Amy for a special presentation of a special request for "The Rose." And we had Mo's special childhood friend Bob making a special trip all the way from Illinois to share this special evening with us--after not seeing each other since middle school! (It was Bob who sent a special request for his special song, "The Rose.") Hope you didn't miss it!

September 13, 2014
Firemen's Park, Cottage Grove, WI
Bike & Boogie for Hunger --After a bit of morning drizzle, it turned into a beautiful afternoon for this special event to raise awareness and funds for The River food pantry. We were honored to be part of it. Be watching for announcements of next year's event...

September 10, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Our first time back in the lounge after four months of patio shows--fall has fell! But it was a great night, with one young Emma singing with Amy, one very young Emma dancing with her mom, and Amanda joining Amy for a duet of "Someone to Watch Over Me." Another very special time with friends and family. (But for sure we're already missing the patio...)

August 30, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
This was indeed an extra special night on the patio! The weather was gorgeous, we had Brad back with us on drums (yup, the full kit), Uncle Mike was visiting all the way from Idaho, many old friends hung out at tables all over the patio, Kathy was out keeping Jerry warm with her sultry smile ... and we had young Nora (out for the evening with her dad Craig). Right away, she and Amy seemed to develop a special bond--and other people must have noticed because it made the front page of the Sun Prairie Star a few days later! All those kinds of things make it very special fun for us!
August 27, 2014
We had another beautiful evening on the patio--a great crowd, friends old and new, and several younger kids really getting into the musical timeline. But, wow, the sunsets are getting earlier! How many more nights on the patio do we have left this year?

August 26, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
First Annual Golf Outing--This wasn't our usual crowd! These folks (close to 100) had endured several hours on the golf course on a beautiful summer day, complete with food and beverages provided at several holes along the way, before they hit the patio for dinner. They started out in a good mood, and we were delighted to add some tunes to keep the evening going! The event was quite a success--be watching for next summer's announcement.

August 23, 2014
Living Water Church, Sun Prairie, WI
Summer Family Fun Day--It was a great afternoon "under the big top," with perfect weather that followed a bit of a shower right at start time. This was a big day for Living Water to invite out the whole neighborhood to share some fun.  We had fun bringing the tunes as the nearby farm animals (donkey, calf, and some other unidentified creature) occasionally chimed in! It was a special treat for us to see so many folks from the neighborhood enjoying the music, food, animals, bouncy houses, and more, and we got to play a few more of our originals than we usually do. Hoping to be back next year!

August 20, 2014
These incredibly beautiful evenings on the Uno's patio have been such fun times to connect with so many of our friends and family! This evening we were joined by Mo (she's only missed one Wednesday this summer), Emily (and friend Greg), Amy, Dave & Yvonne, and others. And we got to meet our youngest dancer ever--what energy! Have to say, though, that it's a little alarming to see the sun setting so much earlier these days...
August 9, 2014
Our last date at Pooley's for this summer, and what a fun night! The patio was filled with lots of friends, old and new. (Probably thought I was going to say "old and young," right? Well, that too!) We even had a group of hard-core dancers join us toward the end of the evening--helped re-energize us. We're for sure hoping to be back next summer. A big "thank you" to Peter and all the folks at Pooley's for continuing to support live music--please consider showing them your appreciation over the coming months.
August 7, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Just one more beautiful evening on the patio surrounded by family and friends! Highlights included friend Gary spending the entire evening with us (technically on the patio at Plate & Barrel, but we just can't stop those sound waves from jumping the fence), Jerry's wife Kathy out for the evening with her high school buddy, Ryan (though no longer In-Black) back with us for "Folsom Prison Blues" and the "Jackson" duet with Amy, and ... adopted-sister Ana all the way from Michigan with her mom! What a fun night!
August 6, 2014
We've had a wonderful patio sunset season at Uno's, and this night was no exception. Gorgeous weather, beautiful sunset, great time with old friends, and meeting some new ones. Hoping for a few more of these evenings, but we're starting to hear the term "Polar Vortex" in the long-range forecast...
August 5, 2014
What a fun time on another beautiful evening! This was our second trip over to the Sauk Prairie community, and we had a blast. It was a great crowd of listeners and movers, from infants to great-grandparents--but only the six-to-ten crowd actually danced on tables! It was great to have Brad make the long trip to sit at the drums--and it was sure helpful to have youngest brother Matthew on his first outing as roadie. We hope to be back next year!
August 1, 2014
The Brink Lounge, Madison, WI
This was a fun night in the Lounge! It was a bit of a stormy night outside, which may have encouraged several groups of our friends to came out, and lots of other folks were dropping in and out all through the evening. It was again a special treat to have Brad back with us on drums--and taking a few extra solos! (Interesting how people seem to pay special attention to those drum solos...) We had a little extra fun with the official release of the new NTS wristbands--everyone in the room got their choice of color! Come and see us before we run out...

July 30, 2014
Just another gorgeous evening on the patio (as we realize that summer is more than half gone...). We gave a sneak preview of our new wrist bands to all the kids (several!)--and a bunch of adults--who spent the evening with us. It's always fun to see kids dancing.
July 23, 2014
Many evenings we've come so close to canceling... But this night, like the others, turned out beautiful, and the clouds roaming the sky just made the sunset all the more amazing. Friend Cori brought along several of her work friends, and the whole patio seemed to appreciate our focus on the 1990s--mixed in, of course, with the nine other most recent decades! Jerry's high-school friend Jim drove all the way from Dixon, Illinois, to share the evening with us--hearing Jerry play live checked one item off his "bucket list"! We loved meeting you, Jim! Come out and join us for these beautiful patio evenings. (Come November, you don't want to be thinking "I wish I had..."!)
July 12, 2014
Summer showers kept everyone off the patio, so we played inside the establishment for the first time ever. We were a bit concerned at first about the acoustics in that room (those ceiling are hiiiigh), but the sound turned out great (you can call for a personal endorsement of portable linear array PA systems) and the packed house was charged with energy for the entire evening--the dancing never stopped! We were even energized to play an extra half-hour! It was great fun (as always) to have Brad back with us on percussion--even playing his minimal cajon-based set, he pulled off some stellar solos. One more Pooley's date this summer--don't miss it...

July 9, 2014
Another absolutely gorgeous evening on the patio, complete with another amazing sunset. We brought our usual variety of tunes but focused on the 1920s to 1940s--some timeless tunes! Highlights of the evening included daughter Anna joining Amy for an "At Last" duet, Happy Anniversary to Mo & Ed, and young Micah dancing to "Blue Moon of Kentucky"--one of those timeless tunes (from 1946)! More patio evenings to come--don't miss out.
July 5, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Energy was flowing all over the patio--what a fun and beautiful night! The evening was punctuated by several highlights, including Brad back with us on drums, lots of friends and family hanging out with us (including Lin and Jeff, all the way from New Berlin), Josh home from college and joining Mom and Dad (special friends Cori and Tom) for dinner, pulling out a couple originals we haven't played for a while, another new dress for Amy, and Happy Birthday to special friend Dawn. We're loving these patio nights!

June 27, 2014
The Brink Lounge, Madison, WI
It was a gorgeous night outside, World Cup fever was epidemic, but the time machine played on in the lounge! A big thank you to our loyal friends and family who made the trek all the way to downtown Madison. We had a fun time playing while we were there, but ask Amy about the end of her evening and a long night in the ER (unrelated to World Cup fever)... Plan to join us next time--this really is great space to hang out with friends and listen to music.
June 25, 2014
Another last-minute decision with a threat of nasty weather...and one more time, it turned out to be an incredibly beautiful evening--amazing sunset, mild temps, light breeze (i.e., no mosquitos). Jerry suggests we change our name to the "Sunshine Band"! Focus on the 1960s seemed to be a special crowd pleaser--from kids to adults--and what a delightful crowd we shared the evening with. Several folks stayed on for the entire evening, and we met several new friends. For a very special surprise, we were joined by Rockin' Rob (of Little Vito and the Torpedoes) for his very animated vocal interpretation of "Mustang Sally" (on the setlist only because it's a 1966 hit first recorded by Wilson Pickett)--wow! This is definitely turning out to be a fun patio series!
June 24, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was "Pinots on the Patio," a special event hosted by Plate & Barrel (on the B&H's patio) featuring "eight expressions of the pinot grape"--and everyone on the filled-to-capacity patio had an extraordinary time! We were excited to be bringing the tunes--our first time playing a Tuesday evening on the patio--and the crowd was giving back lots of energy. Cheers!
June 21, 2014
Another one of those days: Storms all morning and well into the afternoon, and then the sky cleared to give us another beautiful evening with a gorgeous sunset. And what a fun crowd that stayed on for the entire show! Lots of dancers (including a couple very young ones--and several moderately young ones--who dressed up for the occasion) and way more than our fair share of whooping (yup, look it up). We challenged folks to get up and dance with a stranger as we played the sad story of the "Tennessee Waltz"--congratulations go to Oscar and Jodie for accepting the challenge and dancing the whole song, which earned them band t-shirts! We've got two more nights scheduled on the Pooley's patio this summer--don't miss out!
June 18, 2014
Well, it was focus on the 1970s, but we thought it wouldn't be happening this night. All day the weather blustered--thunderstorms, wind, rain. But right at decision time, the skies opened up and by the time we started playing, there was hardly a cloud in the sky! That is, until we ended our set with dark clouds looming--but it never did rain. And the 1970s went on as scheduled (would be odd if they didn't, I suppose...). We had fun, enjoyed a friendly and interactive crowd, watched a beautiful sunset, and then dined on some of the items that we been smelling on the grill all evening--that's tough, but it gives us one more thing to look forward to! Back next week with the 1960s...
June 14, 2014
Angell Park, Sun Prairie, WI
Praise in the Prairie music festival/fundraiser--Perfect weather for this early-season festival, a gorgeous day to spend outdoors! This first annual event was sponsored by Shelter from the Storm Ministries for a great cause: "Our goal is to raise awareness of homelessness in our community, raise ...$250,000 for the first phase of a multi-family shelter in Sun Prairie, and unite the entire community to be a part of the change." What a fun time we had playing several original songs and putting our own twist on a few more familiar ones. Hoping to be back for the Second Annual event!
June 5, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Another beautiful patio evening, and we had a blast bringing the tunes for our very first Thursday show at B&H's--it was a very lively crowd! We weren't the least bit intimidated to be sharing the stage with Bob's friend Elvis (although it was a rather life-like Elvis--it was occasionally a bit disconcerting to glance up and see him there in full swagger!). And it was great to see Bob in good spirits, out for the evening with some lady friends from high school days. We enjoyed seeing lots of friends and family, including a couple parties that came to the patio--Happy Birthdays to Eva and Stephanie!
June 4, 2014
Our first time this season back on the patio at Uno's! The weather was stormy early in the day, and the forecast was pretty tentative until mid-afternoon, but it turned out to be a beautiful evening. This year we'll be playing on the opposite corner of the patio, with the old farmhouse and trees creating the backdrop--it will be a fun season! This evening was "focus on the 1950s"--we still played a broad mix, but more than half the setlist was made up of songs from the fifties. We're hoping to have some fun with that (next time, June 18, will be focus on the 1970s)...
May 24, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
First time out on the patio this year--it was a long wait, but what a beautiful sunset on a gorgeous evening, and what a great crowd! Having Brad back with us was a great way to start the patio season (he always has fun outside, playing freely on his full drumset). We were especially delighted to have Le Racha join us (for the very first time) for a duet with Amy on "Dream a Little Dream"--we're hoping to hear more of her in the weeks ahead. We're looking forward to a great summer at B&H's--come out and join us often!

May 20, 2014
CWC, Madison, WI
Employee Recognition Picnic--Oh, yes! For the very first time, we played outside for a picnic at the Central Wisconsin Center! (This was actually our fourth picnic, but the previous three had to be moved inside because...this is Wisconsin.) We had a great time, even though the May "heat" (it would have been a very mild July afternoon) had everyone looking for the shade rather than the dance floor set up in the corner of the parking lot. We did miss those wheelchair dancers, but we were thrilled to have several staff up dancing on the grass by the end of the afternoon. We're hoping to come back again soon...
May 7, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was another fun night in the lounge--lots of friends and family, a tiny dancer, and Ryan-in-Black joining us for not one, not two, but three Cash classics! He celebrated his last shift at B&H's with "Folsom Prison Blues" (one of the "usuals"), the ever-popular "Jackson" duet with Amy, and one of the fastest versions of "I've Been Everywhere" ever heard--and he pulled off every word of every line (there was some gasping at the end)! We hope to be seeing/hearing him again as he picks up the occasional shift. Best wishes, Ryan! The weather ouside was beautiful, but slightly cool--patio bound...

This was quite an evening--the room was packed all night, a great crowd with lots of listeners (and a few dancers). Again we were delighted to have Brad with us on drums, and we're always glad to have Ryan-in-Black join us (this time for Folsom Prison Blues and the Jackson duet--those two have definitely emerged as the crowd favorites), but the big surprise was having Bruce join us once more (after months of holding back) for Freebird (we may just have to add that to the setist...). In addition to sharing Greg's birthday cake, we were happy to see so many friends out for the evening, including some we haven't seen for a while (hey, there, Cyndi!) and several first-timers: Amy & Chris (from far off Harmony Grove), Tammy & Jim (all the way from Watertown), and Rachel & Jason (Rachel is a new work friend of Mo's)--hoping to see them all come back soon. Amy and Amy and Tammy go waaaaay back, all the way to high school (just a few years, really, it just seems like decades)!
April 14, 2014
Buck & Honey's
, Sun Prairie, WI
This was an unusual night in some ways. We started later than usual (after 8:30pm)--not so remarkable. But the reason we started late was to entertain the 200+ folks leaving the first annual Madison Magazine Dueling Mixologists event, which took place next door at Plate & Barrel. And we thoroughly enjoyed spending the evening with that very responsive crowd! The mood was especially festive because one of B&H's own won the classic drink division of the competition--congratulations to Kevin, next year's defending champion!
April 9, 2014
Buck & Honey's
, Sun Prairie, WI
It was quite a party--not at all a typical Wednesday night. We were glad to see so many of our friends out, and especially glad to meet several new ones (including John & Lisa). A special highlight of the evening was Sarah sharing the mic with Amy for "Someone Like You"--those special memories...
March 28, 2014
The Brink Lounge, Madison, WI
It was on the quieter side in the lounge (maybe a little tough competing with the NCAA March Madness Elite Eight), but we were delighted to share the evening with our friends. (Notice how Bill didn't mind toooo much allowing Katie, Don, Kathie, and Elizabeth to pose with him?) We extended the evening just a bit when a very appreciative Chicago couple wandered in toward the end of our set--they had an appetite for some blues, and we were happy to serve it up! Already looking forward to our next Brink Lounge engagement in June (and we're planning some surprises)...
March 22, 2014
Buck & Honey's

What a fun (late) night! We were scheduled to start a bit later to share some tunes with all the folks coming by from the Sacred Hearts School fundraiser--good enough. But then the Badger's extended their basketball season into the NCAA tournament, and we waited until the final buzzer of their winning effort to start our part of the evening--needless to say, all (fundraisers and Badger fans alike) were in a festive mood, and the crowd hung out until the music ended at 12:30am! As always, we were thrilled to have Brad back with on drums, we were delighted to have good friends Ariel and Carmen out for the first time, and we were happy to meet a few new friends, including Katie and Margaret--yes, Katie, we'll work on that Smokey Robinson request!
March 8, 2014
Come Back In, Madison, WI
Music Can Beat MS Charity Jamboree--What an event this turned out to be! Fifty-three bands (representing almost all genres except classical--but wait until next year...) on six stages (Essen Haus, Come Back In, Upnorth Pub, Brink Lounge, Brink Lounge Nightclub, and High Noon Saloon) all contributing their time and talents to raise funds for the MS Society, the American Diabetes Association, and the Carbone Cancer Center. We were honored to be part of it. We shared our hour on stage at the Come Back In with a very appreciative crowd and had great fun, even after Jerry's pedal board died in the middle of the set; just imagine, playing his Les Paul directly into the amp without effects--yup, it sounded fantastic! Then we got to stroll around the complex listening to several different bands--what a great afternoon. We're hoping to be back next year--you should definitely plan to be there, too!
March 5, 2014
Buck & Honey's
, Sun Prairie, WI
A fun crowd, including a few extra family--it was "Happy Birthday" to Abigail! And we had some extra musical fun, too--we debuted our take on "Some Kind of Wonderful," a big Grand Funk Railroad hit in 1975 (but first recorded by Soul Brothers Six), and Ryan-in-Black joined us for a few, including a very rare (and crowd-pleasing) rendition of "Ring of Fire." We'll be back soon (on the patio, someday, right??)...

February 9, 2014
Plate & Barrel, Sun Prairie, WI
Hope 2 Others Evening of Giving fundraiser--Champagne, appetizers, music, African drums and dancing--we were excited to be part of this first (of many to come) Evening of Giving Hope 2 Others fundraiser. The event raised about $8,000 toward the Hope 2 Others Medical Center, to be built in Kisongo, Tanzania. (Be watching for more opportunities to support this amazing project.)

The lounge had a bit of a party atmosphere, with outbreaks of spontaneous dancing throughout the evening--must have been the shadow of Valentine's Day just around the corner! We were thrilled to share another cozy evening with friends (including a few new ones) in the middle of this cold, cold winter. It was great to have Brad back on drums again and to have Ryan-in-Black join us once more for a couple Cash tunes. (Anyone remember the feeling of summer on the patio??)
January 25, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
So every evening playing at B&H's is special for us, but this one was extra special--we had extra energy, extra friends, extra family, extra cake, and an extra fun time celebrating both Amy's and Kevin's birthdays! (Amy, of course, is our favorite vocalist. Kevin is our favorite vocalizing bartender--yes, more than just talk!) Amy even got an extra birthday hug from Tom (we didn't see Kevin get his). We're always thrilled to have Brad with us on drums, and he made this night extra special for Mo with his "Blue Moon of Kentucky" duet with Amy. And then to top it all off, Ryan-in-Black joined us for both "Folsom Prison Blues" and the "Jackson" duet with Amy. What a night!  We'll be back in a couple weeks with a double-header--a Saturday at B&H's and a Sunday at P&B.
January 15, 2014
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was one of those quiet and cozy evenings in the lounge--yes, this is Wisconsin, but it's been reeeally cold outside! This was our first 2014 engagement at B&H's, and we were glad to see many of our friends drop by. It's always fun to have Ryan-in-black sit in with us for a Cash tune, and we were happy to bring back "You're So Vain" as a special dedication to Kim and Jeff, the original requesters! We're looking foward to another great year at B&H's and thank all the staff for their support of live music.
January 11, 2014
The Brink Lounge, Madison, WI
Our return engagement at the Brink Lounge, and we had a great time! It's a fun and elegant place to hang out with friends, and folks really listen. Many friends dropped in through the night, and we met many new ones. And we had lots of celebrating going on--a biiiggg birthday party for Kerri ended up being a surprise engagement party for...Kerri! She said "yes" (fortunately!), and she and Otis delighted everyone by dancing to a few special tunes (including "Breathe" and "At Last"--good start, you two!). We brought a couple new tunes that seemed to resonate with everyone--"Stand by Me" and "My Girl." Those songs from the 60s just last and last... We'll be back in March--already looking forward to it!
