December 31, 2012
Main Street Pour House, Stoughton, WI
Our first time on stage at the Pour House--for their big New Year's Eve party, at that--and what a blast! We were happy to see several old friends who made the trip, and it was great to meet many new friends. The dancers came in bunches (extra fun for us, but it's almost impossible to predict which tunes will get people moving)! It was also fun to have so many people hang out just listening--we definitely felt the community. We had a few musical firsts, including Auld Lang Syne, of course, and our take on "Fever" (with some improvisational fusion to end it--we're hoping to do a bit more of that...) It was a very festive night! Special thanks to the Pour House for their support of live music, and to our host, Jeanne, for inviting us and making the party so special. Hoping to be back sometime soon... Happy New Year!

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
This was one exciting night--parties within parties! The big news was brother Greg and family with us celebrating his graduation (UW-Platteville, Engineering) and getting an up-close and personal rendition of his special song, "Over the Rainbow" (yes, a few tears around the room). Other highlights included lots of dancing (which really makes it fun for us--especially for Amy, who did quite a bit of dancing herself!), a special request for Bob and Denise ("At Last"), and Ryan joining us (and bringing in his whole party!) for a couple Cash tunes. We'll be back at B&H's on January 2 (Wednesday evening), and don't forget New Year's Eve at the Pour House in Stoughton--please come out and join us!

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Another great evening with friends and family (and food, of course). Amy was all over the room, and several folks responded boldly when the microphone got close. Other highlights included Happy Birthday to Trish, close harmonies with soul-sister Dawn, Amy's special welcome to Riley (new to the B&H's family), Eva's smile, some cheek time with Mo, Bob once again displaying his dancing skills, and some new music (including "You're So Vain"--maybe dedicated to Kevin, maybe not...). Hoping to see everyone back next week.

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
We had lots of fun sharing a cozy evening with friends. Highlights included the lobster tail special (passing by so many times just out of reach...), some new music (including "Little White Church," great fun and just about doubling our country repertoire!), and several new friends. Two of those new friends, Kim and Jeff, made a special request--and they want it next week! Amy promised we would give it our best, so the challenge is on! Hoping you can come out and join us next week (December 5) for a much-needed shopping break.

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
A last minute booking had us back at the establishment for the second time in less than a week! A huge wedding party in the atrium area added even more excitement to the normal Saturday night dinner frenzy in the dining rooms. (Really glad we had set up everything earlier in the day--it was tough walking around by dinner time!) We were honored to celebrate Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps (227 years old) and bring a special thank you to our veterans on this holiday weekend. Amy was happy to dedicate "Ain't No Sunshine" to our new and good friend Daryl, out for the evening with wife Etta and sharing a table with Mo(m). Daughter Abby joined Amy for a reprise of their "Last Love Song" duet--another special moment. (You really need to hear that one if you've missed it.) To the amazement of all, Amy actually got Chef Sammy out on the dance floor (with "I'd Rather Go Blind"), and Lauren even kept him moving into the next song! Happy Thanksgiving to all--we'll be back right after, on Wednesday, November 28, offering a much-needed break from the Christmas shopping.

Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
At least it felt warm and snug inside the establishment--no one seems quite ready for that cold, blustery weather outside! We certainly felt the warmth in the room as we got to share some fun tunes with our friends. Highlights of the evening included the amazing food aromas from all those trays passing by (just out of reach!), Happy Birthday to Maddie, another crowd-pleasing appearance by Ryan-in-Black, Jerry's guitar surviving the "Drown in My Own Tears" solo, and some new music, including "Mustang Sally" (yes, we finally gave in to the pressure!) and another heartful Bonnie Raitt tune, "I Can't Make You Love Me," apparently a big favorite with the crowd. Maybe the biggest highlight was daughter Abby's singing debut with mom Amy on a brand new tune, "Last Love Song"--in case you missed it, we'll try to bring her back soon!
October 20, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Outside--blowing leaves and early sunset. Inside--black cats and spider webs, new fall menu and wine night, good friends and fun tunes. And once again, dancers of all ages made it an extra special night for us! Highlights of the evening included Brad back on the cajon (and other assorted instruments); some new music (including "Crazy Dream"--appropriate for the season); happy birthdays to Etta and Steve; Brad's dedication of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" to Mo; a special request for Patsy; Papa Ed, Grandma Colleen, and Cousin Mike happily sharing a nearby table; Ryan-in-Black back with Cash (inluding the "Jackson" duet with Amy); and Kevin inimitable on an entire chorus of "Old Time Rock and Roll." Jerry missed his entire solo (OK, he did play the first note) on "Drown in My Own Tears" when his preamp battery abruptly died; oddly enough, he missed the same solo a couple months back when he broke strings on both guitars. One powerful song! Hoping to see everyone back on November 7--will we be stomping snow off our shoes by then?
October 3, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was a cozy evening in the lounge while temps sank with the sun. Dancing was definitely a highlight of the night, as two young sisters showed everyone how it should be done. A little later, Amy had a turn with daughter Abby (although it didn't seem quite as energetic as the sisters had demonstrated!). Two other highlights were Jerry's new hat and a rare request for "The Rose"--this gentle love song also happens to be a life-long favorite of Amy's mom, so the double dedication was a special treat. Hoping to see everyone out on October 20 (a Saturday)--we'll have some new tunes to share.
September 12, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
As usual, the weather played a role. Storms threatened as we began setting up on the patio, but Tom & Chris guessed it right again, as warm and threatening turned to beautiful and cool. Quite cool--people really appreciated the fire ring as the evening progressed! We shared a great evening with lots of our friends, old and new. We're hoping for at least one more evening on the patio before winter hits--those fall sunsets are amazing!
August 29, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was great to be out on the patio again, enjoying the beautiful weather, the amazing sunset, and our wonderful friends. (Right after our last song, we even got to sit down near the fire ring to enjoy some of the incredible fare--medium-rare ribeyes!) We were happy to have Peter sitting in with us once again on cajon--epecially since the very next morning he was on his way (with slightly sore fingers) to Eau Claire for his freshman year of college. Thanks to all our friends, old and new, for coming out to share the evening with us--hoping to see everyone back next time. (Not sure if Katie was entirely happy with Greg taking possession of that fish taco...)
August 4, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Once again the unusual weather (rain!) forced us inside, but what a great time we all shared! Great food and beverages, fun tunes, Happy Birthdays to Miranda and Kelly, Happy Anniversay to Dawn and Brett, Griffin's debut as our youngest dancer ever, Dawn joining Amy for "Chain of Fools" (which included a very...passionate dueting/dueling finish), and lots of friends and family. Hope to see everyone back on August 29 (Wednesday).

Polka on the Riverway Festival, Prairie du Sac, WI
We started playing as the beautiful evening began to unfold above the Wisconsin River, about an hour after the last polka band finished playing and packed up. At first it seemed that some were a bit surprised, maybe a bit confused ("that's not polka music..."), but after a few tunes we felt welcomed to the community ("...but I like it!") as folks began to sing, move, and dance to the music. We had a great time sharing the evening with lots of new friends in the Sauk Prairie area and our small contingent of family and friends who made the trip. We were glad to have Brad back with us on drums; it was likely that bold beat that brought so many out on the dance floor--we've never seen so many ladies dancing with Amy at one time! Special thanks to Bianca for inviting us and for all her efforts over the past several months putting together one special day. Oom-pah!
July 21, 2012
Pooley's Sports Bar and Event Center, Madison, WI
Our second engagement this summer on Pooley's patio--and what an incredibly fun time it was sharing some tunes! We were blessed to have Steve Phipps sitting in with us on drums ("one of the premier drummers in Dane County," as Jerry described)--we even plugged in his microphone so as not to miss the tight harmonies (who knew about the jokes?!). Lots of our "old" friends joined us (thanks to all of you), and we met lots of new friends (hoping to see you all again soon!). We even had a dog (huge dog) in the audience--something all bands aspire to but few actually experience! Milo and Gail set the dancing example, and others soon followed, and that makes it extra fun for us. Highlights of the evening included the beautifully comfortable evening weather; the joke competition among Amy, Jerry, and Steve (good thing we don't give Jim a mic); happy birthdays to Ryan, Anna, and Matthew; Michael breaking away from the bar to join us for a few tunes; the extra-full family table; Cori's smile; and Mom's artful photography. Thanks to Pooley's for supporting live music--we hope to be back next summer.
July 18, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
So a last-minute decision by owner Tom--as he glanced at the horizon--had us setting up in the lounge instead of on the patio. That seemed like a very smart move an hour later as we watched waves of rain washing across the patio. We do seem to have some effect on the weather, even during a record-breaking drought! But we all had a great night inside, enjoying all that's great about Buck & Honey's--sturdy roof, food, drinks, staff, lots of friends, and live music! A few highlights of the evening included Jerry's new hat, some new music (including "Right Down the Line," another Gerry Rafferty tune, by way of Bonnie Raitt's new album), happy birthday to Brett, a requested reprise of "At Last" for Bob (Amy sang the whole song to him right at the bar!), Ryan bringing Cash, Peter sitting in with us on cajon one more time, and for sure the late-night firecracker shrimp (if you haven't already, you need to soon!). Hope to see everyone back at B&H's Saturday, August 4.
July 7, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was amazing to watch the temperature dropping through the afternoon (along with the "chance of precipitation") and finally find ourselves on the patio for an incredibly beautiful evening--sunset and all--after that week+ of horrendously hot weather. And what a party! The patio was packed all night, we got to share lots of fun tunes, folks were dancing, and we were thrilled to see so many old friends and connect with lots of new ones. Rick and Ann celebrating a happy anniversary, Dawn bringing her entire birthday party, Ryan joining us for a couple Cash tunes, new friends Garth and Scott offering to Protect and Serve (with help from Lisa and Stephanie), Annette and friends holding down a section of lounge furniture for the entire night, and of course Mom supporting us in every way (with some insightful help from Ed). We really enjoy sharing those times with our friends. Let's do it again, July 18 (Wednesday)--hope to see you there!
June 23, 2012
Graduation party, Sun Prairie, WI
Congratulations to Max and Logan! Following their welcoming speeches at 4 pm (the party officially began at 2 pm), we played to a very lively crowd until after 9:30--our longest set ever! The "50%-chance-of-rain" rain never materialized, so the party went forward as planned. And Martha and Paul (and friends) really know how to throw a party--hundreds of pounds (literally!) of extraordinary food, games (including Sumo wrestling),  beverages to suit every taste--and lots of folks decided to stay on for hours. We were honored to be a part of it, and it was great to see so many people dancing and enjoying the tunes as the evening wore on. An early highlight was Amy's duet with one young lady who requested "This Little Light"--one of those special moments. Best wishes to the guests of honor as they continue their life adventures.
June 19, 2012
Central Wisconsin Center picnic, Madison, WI
The 92-degree weather forced the picnic inside, but it couldn't stop the fun! We've never seen so many people dancing, and the fact that most of them were in wheelchairs made it that much more exciting for us--this crowd really moved to the music! Amy was thrilled to be reunited with many of her former co-workers and residents--she'd been hoping to perform at the Center since she started working there a few years ago. Thanks to Director Jan for inviting us and to all the staff for making this special event possible. We'd love to do it again next summer.
June 16, 2012
Pooley's Sports Bar and Event Center, Madison, WI
"The weather is headed south." Peter's hushed announcement at the end of our first set sounded like bad news! But he was actually telling us that the storm that tracked across Iowa all afternoon--heading right toward Madison--ended up going to our south, leaving us with nothing but beautiful weather on the patio for our first show at Pooley's. And what a great night! It was tough keeping track of Amy and her mic--she spent a lot of time out there moving around (even when she stands still she moves around!). Jerry's guitar was actually smoking a few times--Kathy is quite an inspiration, and we love seeing her face in the crowd! Great to have Brad back with us after a few three-piece shows--he really likes playing outside, using real sticks, and letting loose! Thanks to many of our friends for coming out, thanks to so many new friends for sharing the fun, and thanks to all the dancers and movers--makes it special fun for us! Very happy birthdays to Emily, Michael, and Monica--we always enjoy adding that to the show--and thanks to Michael for joining us for a few tunes, including one all on his own! Special thanks also to Ryan, coming out all the way from Sun Prairie to join us for a couple tunes. Thank you, Pooley's, for your support of live music--we hope to be back soon! And hoping to see all our friends out on the patio at Buck & Honey's, Saturday, July 7.
June 13, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Our first time out on the patio since last October (finally!), and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening, amazing sunset and all. It was great to see so many of our friends out enjoying the time with us (although we're always a bit jealous just watching all that amazing food go by). Very happy birthday to Lonn--and thanks for bringing the whole party with you! Amy seemed especially pleased to wander the patio with her mic, surprising the unwary and inviting several impromtu duets. I'm not sure how many "sisters" ended up joining us for "We Are Family"--Cori and Dawn, for sure, but ... was that Jay and Lonn up there too?? Always great to have Ryan-in-Black ("Bri, please take care of my tables...") join us for the now-legendary "Folsom Prison Blues" and the "Jackson" duet with Amy. We had a great time and hope that everyone will join us Saturday night (June 16) on the patio at Pooley's for a reprise. Back at Buck & Honey's in a few weeks (Saturday, July 7)...
June 9, 2012
Sunset Grill, Deforest, WI (
Our first time playing out at Sunset Grill, and we had a fun night! It took a  few minutes to get folks warmed up, but we enjoyed meeting some new friends. And very happy birthday to Pam, the guest of honor! She was actually surprised--a bit rare these days--and we were glad to bring a few of her favorite tunes (along with "Happy Birthday," of course) to the set. Special thanks to Misty and Tara for helping pull things together, and to the Grill for supporting live music--we think they should do it more often! Hoping to see everyone out next Wednesday at Buck & Honey's...
May 30, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It did feel wonderful stepping out into the cool night air, but the fickle weather had us playing inside--was it one last time before next fall? But after that gorgeous holiday weekend, we were more than happy to share a cozy evening with our friends in the lounge. New music for the evening included "Break it to me gently" (another tear-jerker) and "Stuck in the middle with you" (nothing but fun!). As always, it was great to have Ryan (off duty and walking very gingerly after his martial arts class) join us for a couple Cash tunes. Hoping to see all our friends back at Buck & Honey's--on the patio!!--June 13 (Wednesday). And don't forget we'll be at Sunset Grill (DeForest) on June 9 (Saturday) and on the patio at Pooley's June 16 (Saturday).
May 16, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
A fun evening with so many of our friends! Some new tunes at B&H's (including our takes on "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Proud Mary) and some new voices! Michael joined us for a very energetic version of "Dancing in the Moonlight" (he'll be joining us again for a few more on the Pooley's patio on June 16), and Jay performed an amazing rendition of "I've Been Everywhere" (only missing one line, but coming up with an entertaining improvised substitute!). And we were happy to have Ryan-in-Black joining us once again for "Folsom Prison Blues." Thanks to everyone, including the B&H's staff, for making it such a great night for us. Hope to see everyone back on Wednesday, May 30...
April 28, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
We've never seen more couples up dancing at B&H's--makes it extra fun for us! We really felt the energy in the room all night and so much appreciated sharing the time with our friends. Amy spent more time than usual roaming the room with her mic, including special moments with nephew Liam and friend Emily. It was great to have Brad back with us for the night--Amy definitely surprised him when she called for a drum solo, but he came through in stellar fashion, as usual! Thanks again to Buck & Honey's for their support of live music, and we're hoping to see all of you back on May 16 (a Wednesday)--we'll be bringing more new music to share...
April 18, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
We had a great time sharing the evening with so many of our friends. Tim and Laurie were back to celebrate "Dr. Nancy's" birthday (a musical greeting, a dance, a few hugs...just what the doctor ordered!), Chris was actually singing along--rather spiritedly--with "Gimme Shelter," and we were glad to have Peter sitting in with us again on The Box. Lots more memories... Hoping to see everyone back on Saturday, April 28.
April 7, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was another fun evening, with several special touches: cousin Jenny visiting from Monroe, uncle Mike visiting from Montana, two-thirds of Off the Shelf joining us for dinner, Jerry's hometown friend Jeff Kagay joining us for a few songs, new music (including "Here Comes the Sun," another George Harrison song recorded by the Beatles, and Norah Jones's "Chasing Pirates"), and many old and new friends. Thanks to all for coming out, and once again thanks to Buck & Honey's for supporting live music. Hoping to see everyone again on April 18 (Wednesday).
March 28, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It was a more typical Wednesday night (with a quieter dinner hour and then things picking up through the evening), and we missed seeing some of our regulars, but we had great fun sharing the time with a great crowd of friends, old and new. We brought some new music, including our first Bread tune, "Everything I Own"--that seemed to strike a note with people, and we'll bring it back real soon. Ryan-in-black was actually off duty and wearing jeans--and he appropriately strayed from his Cash list with a new Diamond tune, "Sweet Caroline," a crowd pleaser for sure. We'll be bringing more new music next time--Saturday, April 7. Come out and join us! (You'll likely need a break from Easter preparations by then...)
March 17, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Drawing out the excitement to the last few seconds of the game, the Wisconsin men's basketball team prevailed in the third round of the NCAA tournament. For 5 hours following (til midnight!), the spirit of the Irish prevailed--extraodinary food and beverages, of course, with lots of fun tunes (several new ones), a crowd of friends (never seen so many people at one table!), Ryan-in-black bringing Cash, Kevin sharing a smooth rendition of "Moonshiner" (a Clancy Brothers tune), people dancing, and lots of folks boldly singing as Amy walked her mic around. Thanks to our many friends for making the long night a very special one. Hoping to see everyone back on March 28 (Wednesday).
March 7, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Fun (old friends and new; dancing; Amy all over the room with her mic; Tom A. taking over the mic for a full chorus of "Old Time Rock n Roll"). New music (Greg wasn't there their to hear his requested "Over the Rainbow," but we'll bring it back; "Carnival" delighted, with a requested reprise at the end of the evening; Ryan-in-black bringing "Ring of Fire" along with a couple others). Great weather (almost patio weather...). Fantastic food (well, we saw lots of it going by--so hard to resist just reaching out). Next time at B&H's will be Saturday, March 17--the huge St. Patty's Day party. Come out and join us!
February 18, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Parties within parties, and we just kept playing (until 11:15!)--thanks to all for such a fun night! Happy Birthdays to Maureen and Amy P. (one had balloons, one had cake--we wish you both a blessed year), Ryan-in-black bringing three songs plus a requested reprise in the third set, people dancing (we'll never figure out how they find room), Amy getting all the original soul sisters joining her for the "freedom" bridge on "Think," half the women in the room singing along with "Undo It" (a new one at B&H'S--who knew?), Amy requesting several on-the-spot "long solos" from Jerry (she'll have to limit her fluid intake next time), the debut of our new banner (thanks, Tiv!), lots of folks going out of their way to encourage us all night--we were very privileged to share the evening with so many of our friends. We'll be bringing more new music to share on March 7 (a Wednesday)--please come out and join us!
February 8, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
It still surprises us that so many friends come out on a Wednesday night--thanks to you all! It sure makes it fun for us to share that time, especially when a few adventurous souls find room to dance even when it's so crowded! We were especially glad to have Peter sit in with us on cajon, djembe, and cabasa--we're hoping to see more of him (and thanks to the rest of the family for coming out--come back soon!). And a big thank you to Ryan for sneaking in a couple rehearsals with us to bring two new Johnny Cash tunes--"I've Been Everywhere" and "Get Rhythm"--along with "Folsom Prison Blues." We celebrated Valentine's Day a few days early with a couple new ones at B&H's--"Love Me Tender" and "All I Have to Do Is Dream." OK, so "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (another new one) might not have been so romantic, but we did save it for the "bitter end"! Hoping to see everyone back on Saturday, Feb. 18.
January 21, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
One more incredible Saturday night--lots of requests, lots of birthdays (including Amy's, with Jerry singing the honors in a new key!), another requested reprise of "Someone Like You," a huge hit with "Landslide" (a new one at B&H's), people finding room to dance (whoever heard of "standing room only"??). We were thrilled to share such an exciting evening with so many of our friends. Hoping to see everyone back on February 8 (we'll be bringing more new music to share...).
January 13, 2012
(with Off the Shelf ) "Raise the Roof" benefit concert
Living Water Church, Sun Prairie, WI
We were honored to be part of this very successful fundraiser for Mission Impact to buy building supplies for a children's school in Guatemala. Special thanks to all who came out to support that work. It was a special treat to get together on stage with Off the Shelf at the end of the concert for a short but powerful worship set. A great night!
January 11, 2012
Buck & Honey's, Sun Prairie, WI
Happy New Year! With the stress of the holidays past, lots of folks were out sharing a quieter, cozier evening as we watched for the first flakes to fall. (Turned into our first big storm of the winter, but everyone got home before the freezing drizzle turned to snow.) Several birthdays and an anniversary, a number of new friends coming out to join old friends, a smooth one from Ryan, and we finally got to play our new Stones tune, Gimme Shelter, for Chris--we were very gratified to see a big smile! Thanks to all our friends and welcoming hosts for a great time. Hoping to see everyone back on January 21 (a Saturday night!)...
